Rental Terms
All car rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle pick-up. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your obligations for the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Fishponds Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old, though age limits may vary depending on the vehicle type. A valid driving licence that meets the criteria in the Rental Agreement is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. You will also need to provide payment information and a security deposit, as well as fulfill any other requirements stated in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or in person at our Fishponds location. A deposit may be needed to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, please perform a comprehensive inspection and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be created and must be signed by both parties. It is important to return the vehicle in the same state as it was collected, accounting only for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. The fuel level must match that of the collection; refueling fees will apply if the vehicle is returned with less fuel. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if a delay is anticipated. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during your rental period, plus an administration fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to lower your financial liability, so reviewing these is advisable. You remain accountable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount, except where additional insurance applies. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms falls under your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, off-roading, or any other dangerous driving. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Additionally, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and traveling outside the agreed geographical area without prior authorization is strictly forbidden.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Fishponds Car Hire disclaims liability for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business that may result from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim is limited to the rental amount paid in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to instances of negligence resulting in death or personal injury, or in cases of fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
